Blog Post #6

Hey, everyone! I hope you are all having a great week, and don't forget that if this week isn't going how you had planned, it is not too late to change it. ☺

Initial Experiences Using Diigo

I have never used Diigo before I started using it in this class. So far I have liked it. I like the fact that I can have all of the websites that I will need in the future in one place. This makes it so that I don't have to search my whole computer for the website that I saved because they are all bookmarked on Diigo. Furthermore, you can create groups to share websites with your peers. When you share the website, you have the option to provide a description, and by providing this, your peers can easily decide if the website is beneficial to them without having to actually click on it and explore it.

Experience with Blogging

I have loved having a blog this semester. I have learned that I actually like blogging which I am shocked about it because, even though I am good at it, I do not like writing very much. I am seriously considering keeping it going even after this class is over. I like that we have a broad guide of what to write about, but ultimately we can write it however we want to. I also like acting as if I have a big audience, and I like to include little reminders at the beginning of my blog to help encourage my readers. Overall, I am so happy that blogging is apart of this class.

Interesting Web 2.0 Tool

A Web 2.0 tool that I may use in my own classroom is Instagram. I have an idea to create an Instagram page that the parents can follow to keep up with what is going on in the class room. I like that Instagram has a privacy feature so that I can approve who follows our class page, and I can monitor followers and remove them as I need to. I think this would appeal to the parents because it wouldn't be a newsletter that they would have to sit down and read, instead it would be a quick post every once in a while. Before I posted pictures of any of my students, I would get the parents permission first, but to keep it even more private I would refrain from posting our school name or the student's names. While this is just an idea, I am thankful that I have so many Web 2.0 tools to choose from.

Thanks for reading this far. I hope you all have a great rest of your week. Talk to you next week!

And I know I said this before, but I love reading your blog posts, each and every week!!! :) Thanks for sharing!
